Special assignments

I am not too fond of doing commissioned work, but I have, however, accepted a few assignments over the years...

 Vignettes for VUC

Some years ago, I was asked to draw a series of vignettes for VUC of Falster, the Centre for Adult Education of the island of Falster.

The vignettes were to symbolise different aspects of the education and the programmes.

The result was a series of drawings, which besides being used for the catalogue of that year, were printed on T-shirts and bags – and they are in fact still being used.

Aesthetic workspace for council service centre

In 1990, the local authorities of Nykøbing Falster established an information and service centre called “the satellite”.

For this “shop” I was asked to choose the colours of the floors, the walls, the tables and the counters as well as to design a logo.

One of my paintings forms part of the interior design.

I do not normally accept commissioned work.

However, over the years, I have accepted some assignments, covering a wide field: from design of church inventory to theatre posters.

- And it has, of course, been great fun and very interesting!

See the examples on this page.

Painting of the local paper, Folketidende

The assignment was to do a painting reflecting the past, the present and the future of Folketidende.

The painting was a present from the employees to Folketidende on the occasion of the paper’s jubilee.

Posters for the performances of the regional theatre Masken

Masken succeeded in persuading me to create posters for a whole season’s performances.

For me this was a completely new way of thinking, very time consuming, but also very exciting.

Among the performances were “Dr. Life” and Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol”.

Design af inventar til Nordre Kirke

Design of new church inventory

I participated in decorating Nordre Kirke (Northern Church) in Nykøbing Falster, Denmark, in 1992.

The work was carried out in co-operation with the Danish sculptor Ove Bang Jørgensen.

The project included renewal of the church’s inventory: pulpit, altar, altar cross, altar rail kneeler and baptismal font.

Moreover, new lights were created for the church in the form of brass chandeliers, bracket lamps, and altar candlesticks.
